Global-Ref web-based multilingual
content management
Global-Ref is the deployment of a web-based interactive library
of your corporate multilingual documentation with distributed
access - creating an asset for your entire organization. A global
team is forged within your organization bringing all those directly
or indirectly involved in multilingual projects together within
a common virtual community platform, promoting common goals,
process standardization and a spirit of shared knowledge.
Global-Ref puts you firmly in control of your terminology and
authoring/translation history. A simple browser-based toolbar
can now give you instant global access to your corporate terminology
and everything that you have written and translated in the past,
along with any number of other useful references. That's why
we call it Global-Ref.
In addition to the Logos E-Term, our
popular corporate terminology management solution, the Global-Ref
toolbar can give you on-the-fly access to your company's Translation
Memory (an indexed searchable database containing a bilingual,
aligned repository of everything your company has authored and
translated in the past), which is regularly updated. Translators
are already well-served by current technology and are normally
provided with terminology and translation memories as part of
their localization kits. However, authors rarely enjoy the same
benefits. With Global-Ref, authors not only have instant access
to valid corporate terminology, they can also do a string-search
to see how they wrote something previously and re-use it. Of
course, pasting this text into their current document will save
a few key-strokes, but, more importantly, by choosing to re-use
exactly what they wrote previously, by virtue of the fact that
it comes from their translation memory, they guarantee that
it will not have to be translated again. In-country translation
QA reviewers would find this feature extremely useful as well.
Other reference options could include Logos E-Workflow
(project tracking system), the Logos
Dictionary and Wordtheque,
the Logos Verb Conjugator,
or any link relevant to your working environment.
