LOGOS Group offers Web-based and client-server
translation tool

The LOGOS Group based in Modena, Italy, has announced their newly developed
translation database tool, LOGOS Mnemé. Information and tools are available to
clients, translators and technical writers via Internet or intranet. The
client-server architecture enables several users to connect and share the same
database. Mnemé operates in a UNIX (Solaris) environment using an Oracle
database to increase management capability. The software allows data to be
stored, organized according to context (word in phrase, in sentence, in
paragraph), connected to semantic fields (terminology application domains) and
linked to a specific customer through the creation of company glossaries. Mnemé
is linked to Logosys management tools, the multilingual dictionary Wordtheque
and the segmentation and analysis engine. Data stored can be exported and placed
at the disposal of the customer.
The next step will be to make pretranslated material available via FTP. In this
way, companies can send documents for translation direct to the LOGOS database,
receive a pretranslation, and then translate new and/or updated material using
their own resources or those of LOGOS.
