In a recent interview with Reuters, Italy's Logos group outlined goals for the
future. Logos chairman, Rodrigo Vergara, said, "Our aim is to have an office in
every country where an important different language is spoken." Logos now
comprises 18 companies with bases in Britain, United States, Spain, France and
Belgium and has a worldwide network of some 3,000 professional translators. "The
most interesting country for us is clearly the United States, but we aim to grow
in Britain, Germany and in Scandinavia. We are also interested in all East
European countries and are expanding in Japan, China, Taiwan and Korea."
The company had planned a listing recently on Milan's Nuovo Mercato for
high-growth stocks, but this has been put off due to currently unfavorable
market conditions. "We are in no hurry. We certainly haven't any liquidity
problems, and we will continue our expansion strategy without any immediate help
from the bourse listing," said Vergara. The company wants to float 20% of its
capital on the market.
