The Logos Group, a provider of multilingual information management services, has
acquired a 51% interest in Guaraldi Editore of Rimini (http://www.guaraldi.it),
a publisher of fiction and nonfiction which it sells through conventional
channels and on-line. As part of the acquisition agreement, Guaraldi's material
will also be accessible via Logos' new on-line literature portal at
http://www.wordtheque.com. Works can be browsed on-line for free and purchased
by download or mail order.
Through the Logos network of literary translators, Guaraldi's more important
titles will be offered over the Internet to a world market, already translated
into the languages most in demand. Foreign publishers wanting to acquire
print-on-paper rights for items in the Guaraldi catalogue will find ready-made
translations.
The acquisition of Guaraldi heralds the transformation of Logos' current
electronic library, which carries 16 thousand works in 113 languages
downloadable free-of-charge, into a major multilingual literature portal.
